There are eleven professions in the game World of Warcraft. They are alchemy, blacksmithing, enchanting, engineering, herbalism, inscription, jewel crafting, leatherworking, mining, skinning, and tailoring. Three of these professions are considered gathering professions: skinning, mining, and herbalism. Their objective is simple, gather raw materials for the production professions: alchemy, blacksmithing, engineering, inscription, jewel crafting, and leatherworking. Herbalism- Alchemy

Skinning-Leatherworking

As you can see mining is the most sought after gathering profession because of large potential. However, if you are looking to maximize tips from other World of Warcraft players, choosing enchanting and jewelcrafting is your absolute best bet. The secret that most other players do not realize is that leatherworking, engineering, blacksmithing, and tailoring provide a starting set of crafted gear, however these items are not nearly good enough to compare to drops from other monsters in the game. World of Warcraft players are constantly switching gear and replacing it with better pieces. Some people have as many as three different gear sets that all require enchanting and jewels to socket. There is a large potential to make profit if you are a jewelcrafter and enchanter in the game.
